Woman Overcomes Fear
To Repair Years Of Tooth Damage
Darlene is a 50 year old woman who had severe loss of natural tooth structure from a past history of eating disorders and grinding of her teeth. She was very nervous to have any dental treatment done – often hyperventilating at the beginning of dental appointments. She felt ashamed of her smile. She also feared that if she didn’t correct her dental problems, she would loose her teeth and end up in dentures, just like her mother, father, and siblings. She wanted to avoid that! We assured Darlene that we could make her comfortable and be able to relax while having her treatment done. Darlene opted to have conscious sedation for some visits, and light sedatives for others. She quickly gained trust in us and knew that if she ever needed additional dental work performed, we were the practice to make sure she had an excellent experience.
Since Darlene was missing so much natural tooth structure, we fabricated esthetic ceramic crowns for all of her teeth. This gave Darlene the beautiful, healthy smile she deserved, and additionally gave her confidence in smiling and chewing that she previously lacked.
83-Year Old Woman Replaces Her Dentures
With A Beautiful Smile
Dolores is an 83 year old woman who had worn a partial denture for nearly 50 years. While she had grown accustomed to wearing her denture, she knew that she had learned to only ‘tolerate’ it. She did not enjoy the denture and therefore was uncomfortable and unconfident with her smile. Several times over the decades she had removed her denture briefly (usually because food caught under it, or it hurt), set it down somewhere, and lost it. This resulted in Dolores being without her denture for several weeks until a new denture could be made. She always felt self-conscious about smiling and laughing because the clasps would show and the denture teeth didn’t match her natural teeth. Dolores came to us seeking an alternative – one that wouldn’t require her to remove her denture, and one that was more esthetic. She wanted to feel confident about her smile! Dolores had several teeth remaining, so we were able to create a beautiful and functional bridge that spanned across her entire arch of teeth. This not only gave her the confidence to smile and laugh, it also provided her with teeth that helped her chew better and enjoy the taste of her food. Dolores was grateful to have her confidence back, and only wished she had the dental work completed 50 years earlier!
20-Something Watches IMAX Videos
To Relax While Restoring His Teeth
Reed is a younger man in his late 20’s. When Reed came to me, he was concerned about not only fixing his teeth, but also being comfortable during his dental treatment. Nearly every tooth in Reed’s mouth needed treatment, and he had put off correcting his dental problems both due to costs and fear. To help alleviate Reed’s anxiety, we performed Conscious Sedation, where Reed took oral tablets that helped him be completely comfortable relaxed. Reed trusted us, and he decided to try his remaining appointments without sedation. He was pleased that we were able to get him completely numb so that he could remain comfortable and relaxed. To help take his mind off of the procedures, Reed utilized nitrous oxide and watched various videos, catching up on movies and IMAX presentations. Reed now has all of his teeth restored, and sports a handsome smile that gives him confidence to smile and laugh around his family and friends. As a result, he finds eating more pleasurable, and realizes that feeling more confident about his smile has a direct positive effect on his personal and business relationships.
